I want students to understand history

as a collection of accounts.

And those accounts come together to create a narrative.

But that narrative isn't truth, right?

I mean, seeking the truth is understanding that history

is an account of the past.

It is not an event that definitely happened

the way you've heard it happen.

So I would push students of this generation

to be really open to multiple perspectives.

And when you find a primary source

document that confirms what you know to be true, question it.

And find another document that goes against what

you know to be true.

And then make a decision about what really happened.
