here in Louisiana we lose a football

Field's worth of land every 100 minutes

due to Coastal erosion we hope to be

able to combat that problem by using

recycled glass my name is Francisca

Welcome

Troutman I'm from Louisiana and I

recycle glass into sand for Coastal

restoration we will go and pick up glass

Picking up glass

from businesses like bars hotels casinos

we'll put it into our Glass Mountain it

will meet hammers where it'll be crushed

into sand and gravel from there the

glass sand mixture will be sifted we

Glass sand

recycle thousands of pounds of glass

every single hour because so many people

rely on the coast for their livelihoods

there are other places around the world

that have different Sands some sand is

made from bird poop

yeah shrinking coastlines are a super

important issue glass sand can be more

erosion resistant and better for plants

my favorite part of my work is being

able to see recycling actually happen in

front of our eyes
