One of the most iconic
aspects of Star Wars™ sets is the amazing technical textures known as Greebling,
which is seen on the walls and exteriors of starships,
such as the infamous trench run on the Death Star.
Hello Boyos, Rich Boy Jhae here back in with another video and today I'm going to be showing you
how to Greeble.
So I brought two helpers with me here today.
I have Kaden and Kalia and they're going to help me show you guys how to Greeble.
Now, what is Greebling?
Greebles are the little mechanical bits you can find on most surfaces in Star Wars™.
It basically just makes things look a lot more interesting.
So you'll notice them on the surfaces of spaceships, on hallways.
Anything you can spruce up with a little Greebling can make your designs look that much more interesting.
So what do you think looks the most interesting here?
I really love this section right here.
So we can definitely take this middle part right there.
Does that look cool for you? Alright. It does.
That'll be a good start for you.
And now, Kaden, what are you feeling with this?
Um, this section.
That is a good section.
That's probably one of the most complicated bits here.
We have these plates right here for you guys.
And then once we're all done with this, we are going to put them all together.
Alright guys,
really just put your mind to it and use your imagination.
Greebling in its nature is pretty random in itself,
so you kind of just got to roll with it, you know, just go with what you feel.
So what you got here?
Oh, you got a nice little pipe going from there.
Alright Kalia, first let's check out your design.
So I really like that
you kind of took the philosophy of not really crowding too many big sections around each other.
You kind of started with your middle piece right here.
You added a little bit to it which looks cool, basically gave everything room to breathe, so to speak.
Yeah, I just say this is more like connecting tubes.
I really like what you came up with here.
Let's actually connect these all together and really set the scene
for our Greebling.
Yeah, that's really cool, right?
Look at that.
We've got our own little Star Wars™ city right here.
It's like we've recreated the set, but with our own little Greebling design.
Fun! I love it!
Now that we're here, I think there's one thing we're missing.
No build is complete without a pet cat.
I feel like he should be, like, the centerpiece.
Hank does deserve to be the centerpiece.
Alas, the build is complete.
I think you guys did an awesome job, your first time Greebling.
Literally indistinguishable from the set, which is cool.
I think you guys might have a future in that.
Now that we’ve shown you guys how to Greeble, there's three basic things you need to remember.
First, get your pieces.
Just go for the small gray ones,
or if you don't have those, really, just any one or two colors will suffice for it.
Number two, whenever you're coming up with ideas for Greebling, you don't want to crowd things up too much.
So if you come up with a really good design you like
maybe give it a little bit of space when you come up with the next design.
And then number three, just have fun with it. Don't think too much about it.
There's so many cool, interesting pieces you can integrate into it.
I think that even the most random things, just pop it in and see what happens.
Exactly.
I'd just say have fun and let your imagination run free.
Thanks for tuning in guys, and I'll see you all again very soon.
Now you know how to create Greeble textures.
Why not take your skills to another level?
This technique can be used in all sorts of Brickoramas.
