TC NEWMAN: Domino's should have taken its chances elsewhere. The birthplace of pizza doesn't want a slice. American fast food chain Domino's Pizza thought they could one up classic Italian pizzerias by offering delivery. Italy, on the other hand, is delivering Domino's right out of their country.

Domino's started selling pizza in the Italian market in 2015, and reportedly planned to have 880 restaurants in the country by 2030. Instead, Domino's its closing its 29 remaining stores in 2022. This man said it plainly.

Italian pizza is better, for sure. And this Italian thinks Domino's was overstepping. It's like me going to England and making fish and chips. It doesn't make sense. It's as if I went to China to open a Chinese restaurant. It doesn't make sense.

Another major point of contention, Hawaiian pizza. Many Italians couldn't get over topping a pizza with chunks of pineapple, then calling it Hawaiian.

Beyond the cultural clashes, Domino's Italy had a debt of 10.6 million euros. So goodbye, Domino's. Or as the Italians would say, arrivederci.
