I'm an AmeriCorps team leader, and that basically consists
of running kind of the day to day functions of a team.
Throughout the program, I think what I've taken from it
the most is definitely the personal development
and the member development that they focus on.
I'm a fixer and like to act pretty quickly,
but I've learned throughout the year
that people are more capable than they're even aware of.
AmeriCorps has definitely opened up my eyes to a lot of new opportunities
rather than the regular 9 to 5 that I think a lot of people grow up expecting.
The environmental work that I was doing, like trail work and working
in national parks, have opened up a lot of opportunities for my future.
It's definitely helped me narrow down and find a job.
I have a job now.
I'll be doing wilderness guiding back in North Carolina.
I think the thing I'll miss the most is definitely how
driven people are and how much we encourage each other to keep going.
