- Question came up of do I really need to customize every single resume that I'm submitting because that seems super cumbersome. And that takes way too long. And I don't have time to do that. And here's the deal. When you customize your resume, you tailor your resume to the job posting that you're applying to, it's going to give you a higher likelihood of being a close match for that job. The recruiter is looking for specific criteria. And if your resume doesn't clearly reflect it, it's a generic resume, the chances of you actually being a qualified candidate compared to the thousand other people that that recruiter might be reviewing is going to be pretty slim. Customizing it gives you a better chance of getting your foot in the door or at least being seen. And while I'm a firm believer in a targeted job search and I'm not really wasting my time on jobs that don't have a high likelihood of getting a call back on, we still need to make sure that we're balancing the number of applications that we're putting out versus the time we're spending customizing resumes. But there are some methods that you can use to speed up how quickly it takes you to customize a resume. And I'll talk about those in other videos.
